Villa
Keeper Could Unseat Marriott
8th March 2007
Lincoln City are set to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper
Robert Olejnik on loan until the end of the season.
Olejnik is highly rated and has played for the Austrian
Under-16, 17, 18 and 19 teams. He has now progressed to
the Austrian Under-21 squad, although he has yet to make
his Football League debut.
Lincoln City are currently without a reserve goalkeeper
as second choice stopper Simon Rayner has joined Torquay
United on a month's loan. Rayner made his debut for
Torquay in their 1-1 draw at Chester City last Friday,
where he earned rave reviews for his performance.
The signing of Olejnik should put pressure on current
Imps' goalkeeper Alan Marriott who, during his near eight
years at the club, has often faced little competition for
his first team spot.
Olejnik will go straight into Lincoln City's squad for
their difficult match against League Two leaders
Hartlepool United on Friday evening.
