Round-up (10/3)
Hartlepool United 1 Lincoln City 1
10th March 2007
Lincoln City were left to rue an injury time penalty that
cost them all three points at Hartlepool United on Friday
evening.
The Imps had taken a 6th minute lead when a loose ball
was collected by Paul Green before he let fly from
25-yards. The ball, albeit with the aid of a deflection,
quickly found itself in the back of the Hartlepool net
for 1-0 to Lincoln.
Alas, Hartlepool were not prepared to surrender their 19
match unbeaten run without a fight. Thankfully, Lincoln
were able to take control of the game in spells, although
it was a fairly even contest.
The penalty was awarded when Nat Brown handled inside the
area, and despite the protests from Lincoln's players,
the referee award the penalty. Richard Barker kept his
nerve to send the ball past Alan Marriott for 1-1.
Meanwhile former Imps' defender Luke Foster has joined
Oxford United where he hopes to gain a regular first team
spot.
Foster said: "I'm just waiting for that chance, and
with a few injuries around I might get it. When I do,
I've got to grab it."
Foster left Lincoln City by mutual consent in January
after being deemed surplus to requirements.
