Morgan Linked With Bury
10th May 2007
Lincoln City's Paul Morgan is today being linked with a
shock move to Bury. The speculation has occurred as Bury
yesterday appointed former Imps' boss Keith Alexander as
their Director of Football. Player recruitment is among
Alexander's brief, which is why he is also being linked
to several ex-Lincoln City players.
Morgan is currently on the transfer list at Lincoln City,
after submitting an application for "personal
reasons". It later emerged that these personal
reasons are Morgan's desire to return to the north-west
as he wishes to undertake a physiotherapy course at a
Manchester university. However, it remains unclear
whether Morgan will join Bury, as Lincoln City FC are
believed to want a fee for Morgan.
Among the other familiar names also linked with Bury are
Peterborough United's Richard Butcher and Ben Futcher.
Two names who will not be linked, are current Imps Nat
Brown and Scott Kerr. Both players have agreed new deals,
which tie them to The Imps for two and one year
respectively. Both players were among fifteen players
whose current contract expires at the end of the season.
The other thirteen are Ryan Amoo, Lee Beevers, Shane Clarke, Ayden Duffy, Martin Gritton, Paul Mayo, Leon Mettam, Simon Raynor, Ollie Ryan, Andy Toyne, Owain Warlow, Phil Watt and Tom Wilkinson.
Several of these players could be joining the approximate
500 other professionals who are seeking a new club.
Already among this number is current Imps' loanee Peter
Holmes, who has been released by his parent club Luton
Town.
Meanwhile, Lincoln City's play-off semi-final at Bristol
Rovers on Saturday is set to be an 11,500 sell-out.
