Coventry City Track Imp
9th June 2007
Lincoln City FC are facing an increasingly tough task to
hold on to star Jeff Hughes.
Earlier this year, it emerged that Crystal Palace were
scouting Hughes with a view to a transfer. However, only
a few days ago, Lincoln City denied that Crystal Palace
had made a bid for Hughes despite rumours in London that
one was about to be submitted. Now, it has emerged that
Palace face competition from Coventry City for Hughes.
Ironically, Coventry are now managed by Iain Dowie, who
is a former Crystal Palace manager.
Reports in Lincoln suggest that The imps are holding out
for at least £500,000. Unfortunately, reports in Ireland
suggest that Hughes' former club Larne are entitled to a
sell-on clause. Neither of these reports have been
confirmed though.
It is also reported that Sheffield United could be set to
join the chase for Hughes.
