Mixed Week for Imps
15th March 2008
It has been a mixed week for Lincoln City as they have
won one but also lost one during the past week.
Lincoln City travelled to Notts County last Tuesday
evening for a local derby. The match ended as a 1-0
victory for Lincoln thanks to a Jamie Forrester goal in
the 15th minute.
It was an evenly contested affair although Notts County
did enjoy several periods of possession. However, the
match would probably have ended as a 0-0 had it not been
for a spectacular shot by Forrester. A Lincoln cross was
headed straight to Forrester by former Imp Paul Mayo;
Forrester connected with a fine volley to beat Russell
Hoult in the County goal. Mayo was one of five former
Lincoln City players fielded by Notts County during this
match.
Imps' caretaker-manager Iffy Onuora has revealed that he
could boost his injury-hit squad by loaning youngster
from Leeds United, after several impressed during a
recent reserve match against Lincoln City.
In the meantime, Onuora is keeping his faith in the
Lincoln City FC youth set-up as Shane Clarke, Danny Hone
and Gary King were given their chance to impress during
Lincoln's match at home to Stockport County on Saturday
afternoon. However, the match was not the best, with
numerous stoppages that hampered the flow. It was to be
an unhappy time for Lincoln as they lost 1-0 through a
66th minute goal by David Poole.
Elsewhere, former Imps' striker Dave Cameron was this
week named as the new manager of Bradford Park Avenue.
