Imps Chase Peterborough Pair
16th May 2009
Lee Frecklington has moved to Peterborough United but
seems the chances of two of his team-mates coming to
Lincoln City FC are slim.
A few days ago, Peterborough made twelve of their players
available for transfer as The Posh attempt to build for
life in the Championship. Among those players listed were
Liam Hatch and Alfie Potter; Lincoln have made enquires
about both.
Unfortunately, striker Hatch is valued at £175,000 as
Peterborough seek to recoup the £150,000 that they paid
Barnet for him. Peterborough have already agreed a deal
for Hatch to leave for an unnamed League Two club
although this is pending Hatch agreeing terms. Even if
the move falls through, the £175,000 transfer fee is way
above Lincoln's budget; even if its was not then there
would huge discussions among supporters in regard to
gambling that kind of money on one player. The last
player we bought from Peterborough was winger Ryan
Semple, who made
just four substitute appearances in 18 months before
having his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Potter is a 20-year-old winger - Lincoln desperately need
two wingers after being forced to play strikers on the
wing combined with Dany N'Guessan's imminent departure -
but a Conference National club have already bid £25,000
for him. This fee though would be more in keeping with
Lincoln's budget and it remains to be seen whether The
Imps match the bid.
