Luton Sign Imps' Target

b5

6th June 2009

On the 16th May 2009, it was
revealed that Lincoln City were chasing Peterborough United striker Liam Hatch.

However, it appeared to be a dead deal as Peterborough alleged that Hatch was destined for another League Two club in a £175,000 transfer. it is a dead deal now, as non-league Luton Town have agreed to sign Hatch on a season's long loan. The loan is with a view to a permanent transfer.

Whether Lincoln pursued their initial interest, we can only speculate, but seems possible that Imps' boss Peter Jackson turned his attention away from Hatch some time ago. Having signed youngster Jamie Clarke on Wednesday, it is expected that two other unnamed strikers will join Lincoln early next week. The deals are in place but need to be finalised before the club will release the names of the two prospective players.

According to Peterborough's Barry Fry: "It is a great deal for everyone - us (Peterborough), Luton and the lad himself. We have already got our money back on Liam through loan fees."

Hatch signed for Peterborough in January 2008 from Barnet in a £150,000 deal.
