Last
month TFI reported that Lincoln City had joined the chase
for Billy Clarke. Unfortunately, it now seems a little
unlikely that he will join The Imps.
Why, you might ask? Well, it appears that Sheffield
Wednesday and Norwich City are also interested in Clarke.
Sheffield Wednesday of course can offer Clarke
Championship football, which would prevent the striker
from dropping down the divisions following his release
from Ipswich Town.
Meanwhile, Norwich can offer League One football plus, it
means that Clarke does not have to move out of the
Norfolk/Suffolk area.
League One club Brentford were the favourites to sign
Clarke, but they have revealed that they will not
"break the bank" to sign him. Obviously, if
Brentford cannot afford Clarke, then there is probably
little chance that Lincoln City can offer him more
favourable terms.
The other club interested in Clarke is League Two side
Notts County. Their manager Ian McParland is reportedly
to hold talks with Clarke regarding a two-year contract
in the near future.
Clarke has been on holiday in Las Vegas, which is why his
future is yet to be determined, although Brentford boss
Andy Scott met with Clarke in America.
