Lincoln City FC manager Peter Jackson is set for
disappointment as he misses out one of his targets.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Lincoln City
were hoping to sign Gareth Evans from Macclesfield Town.
The 21-year-old striker was out of contract at
Macclesfield so has become a free agent. However, because
he is under 24 years of age, Macclesfield are entitled to
compensation for the player.
Lincoln attempted to reach an agreement with Macclesfield
by offering a performance related compensation package.
Macclesfield though rejected this deal, as they wanted a
lump sum upfront.
Despite this, Evans could still have joined Lincoln as a
Football League tribunal could have set a fee.
Instead though, Evans has agreed a two-year deal at
divisional rivals Bradford City.
Speaking of the deal, Bradford City manager Stuart McCall
said: Gareth is a really good signing with a lot of
promise and Im delighted the club have come to an
agreement with Macclesfield. I know he had a choice of
clubs to go to but once hed come down to the ground
that virtually made his mind up."
Neither Bradford City nor Macclesfield have disclosed the
fee for Evans.
