28th June 2009
Three players have officially left the club this week;
one potential target has joined another club while
another player is wanted by our higher league county
rivals. Not a good week if you are a Lincoln City FC fan.
However, after reporting all the bad news over the past
few days, we can at last find some good news.
The good news is that Lincoln City manager Peter
Jackson's search for a new left-back is over after
signing Joe Heath on loan from Championship club
Nottingham Forest.
20-year-old Heath has a fine pedigree having progressed
through the schoolboy ranks at Manchester United before
his release as a 16-year-old. Unfortunately, he did not
warrant an academy contract at Manchester United but
regardless of this, he will have learnt a lot from his
time there.
After leaving Manchester United, Heath joined Nottingham
Forest. However, it was a gradual progression at Forest
as he had to wait a year after signing professional terms
to make his debut in August 2008, which was against
Morecambe in the Carling Cup. Heath was now on the
fringes of a first team place but throughout the 2008/09
season, he would be in and out of the Forest first team
with his twelve appearances averaging one a month; ten of
these appearances were as starts.
Heath is a versatile player having operated in central
midfield and central defence at Manchester United.
However, it is at left-back that Forest see his future
and they predict a bright future for him.
Heath joins Lincoln on an initial six-month loan
contract.
