Peterborough Man Signs

Lincoln City's attacking options have been boosted by the
re-signing of Sergio Torres from Peterborough United.
Torres is a familiar name to Lincoln City supporters as
the winger completed a month on loan at Sincil Bank ten
days ago. The Imps were hopeful that they could extend
his loan but their attempts to reach an agreement with
Peterborough United failed.
At the time, Peterborough United's Director of football
Barry Fry said: "Lincoln wanted to extend the loan
deal but they weren't prepared to come up with the money
to cover Sergio's wages."
Fry also stated that other clubs had enquired about
Torres' availability with a view to a loan deal. At this
point, it appeared that extending his loan at Lincoln was
not going to be an option.
Since then, Lincoln drew 0-0 at home to Torquay United
last Saturday in a game that Lincoln were lucky not to
lose. The reason being was that apart from one effort on
target from Stefan Oakes, The Imps were bereft of
attacking options. It really was awful to watch, and
Torres' absence was obvious compared to performances of
the recent games that he played.
That said, Torres is no longer guaranteed a first team
place as Lincoln have since signed Khano Smith on a
short-term contract. It will be interesting to see if
Sutton does differentiate or whether he selects the pair
with one of them playing in a more central role in a five
man midfield.
