One Lincoln City FC player could soon be a Premiership
player according to a national newspaper report.
Today's edition of The Sun claims that Lancashire duo
Blackburn Rovers and Burnley are watching Imps'
goalkeeper Rob Burch.
Despite it only being November, 25-year-old Burch is odds
on favourite to be named as Lincoln City FC's Player of
the Season after his displays have single-handedly either
gathered points or more likely, prevented heavier defeats
this season. The goalkeeper joined Lincoln in July 2008
after being released by Sheffield Wednesday; he had the
difficult task of replacing fans' favourite Alan Marriott
but he has managed to achieve this despite initial
scepticism from supporters.
Burch has made 70 first team appearances for Lincoln,
many of which have seen man-of-match performances. To
lose Burch will be a huge blow for The Imps in their
battle to avoid relegation. However, a nice sized fee
could see new manager Chris Sutton able to strengthen his
squad with a few additions; so it is pros and cons for
the club.
