Aston Villa Youngster Arrives

26th November 2009
Lincoln City's squad has another addition today......yes,
you guessed it, its another midfielder!
Although Lincoln are badly in need of a striker, Imps'
boss Chris Sutton has opted to sign midfielder Chris Herd
on loan from Aston Villa. In Sutton's defence, Lincoln
require more players urgently, as they are set to miss up
to seven for their FA Cup clash against Northwich
Victoria on Saturday. The seven are either injured, cup
tied or not permitted to play by their parent clubs.
20-year-old Herd is an Australian youth international,
having been born in Perth. He opted to emigrate to
England to pursue his dream of professional football at
Aston Villa. However, he has been unlucky with injury,
which has caused him to miss most of last season.
Herd does have some experience of playing first team
football even though he has yet to make his competitive
debut for Aston Villa. In 2007/08 he played on loan at
Wycombe Wanderers, making four appearances, having made
his professional debut earlier in the season while on
loan at Port Vale. He scored two goals for Port Vale in
eleven appearances, so hopefully, he can weigh in with a
couple of goals for a goal scoring-less Lincoln side!
Aston Villa have given permission for Herd to play
against Northwich Victoria. Villa have also agreed to
extend the loans of Eric Lichaj and Nathan Baker for a
further month.
