FA Cup Draw: Third Round
29th November 2009
The draw for the third round of the FA Cup has taken
place this afternoon and Lincoln City have been handed a
fine reward for their progress so far.
Lincoln City, who were one of the last balls to be drawn,
will travel to Premiership club Bolton Wanderers. The tie
will see Lincoln manager Chris Sutton pit his infant
managerial wits against the experienced Bolton manager
Gary Megson. The tie will also see Megson take on one of
his former clubs as he had a spell at Sincil Bank in the
mid-1990's under then Lincoln boss Sam Ellis.
Yesterday, Lincoln followed up their first round victory
at AFC Telford by beating Northwich Victoria to reach the
third round of the cup. Maybe that does not sound very
remarkable, but this only the second time that Lincoln
have reached this stage of the competition since 1977;
the last time being in 1999.
