Peterborough Want Aston Villa Loanee

b5

5th January 2010

Earlier today, The Forgotten Imp reported that Eric Lichaj had returned to Aston Villa after his loan deal at Lincoln City had expired.

I said that the time, that the news was a disappointment and that it was unlikely that Imps' boss Chris Sutton had not tried to extend Lichaj's loan. That appears to have been confirmed as Aston Villa are looking to send Lichaj out on loan to a Championship club in order to aid his development. Rated as favourites to sign him are relegation threatened Peterborough United.

Lichaj’s agent Steve Kelly told S365 that: "At the moment, there are three Championship teams that want to take him. The reports that came in (from Lincoln) were outstanding, but at that level you'd expect them to be. Now, they (Aston Villa) want to see him do it at a higher level."

Lincoln's loss is definitely Peterborough's or another club's gain.
