Hull To
Fight For Win
9th November 2001.
Yes that's right Hull City descend on Lincoln tomorrow in
a game which kicks-off at 3 pm so as to clash with the
England v Sweden game.
Ok so most Hull fans are well behaved its just a pity the
minority spoil it for the majority and if you would like
proof then visit the message board. Second its not
Lincoln's fault that the FA selfishly rescheduled the
England game to clash with the domestic programme,
obviously it was due to their commitment to help
grassroots soccer that they so fondly promote !
Hull arrive at Sincil Bank on the back of a 4-0 drubbing
at Hartlepool which moved the North-east side from the
bottom of the division. One of the shock results of
season is expected to see Hull's manager Brain Little
make several changes to his side. Captain Justin Whittle
is set to be recalled after his recent injury to form a
central defence partnership with either Ian Goodison or
Nicky Mohan. One definite alteration to the side which
lost to Hartlepool is David Beresford who starts a three
match suspension.
Speaking about Saturday's game, Little said "That's
something we've got to accept. Perhaps the fact we lost
to the bottom club made it seem even worse but anyone who
thinks there are any certainties in this business is more
often than not proved wrong. We've got to put last
Tuesday behind us. We're not under an extra pressure but
I think you will see a positive reaction from the players
at Lincoln. We've talked about what went wrong at
Hartlepool and they have set the lead themselves. They
want to put things right.''
Ex-Imp Lee Philpot could play against his former side as
he came through a reserve game in midweek without any
ill-effects of an achilies injury. Midfielders Julian
Johnsson and David Lee are doubtful with a virus so
Philpot could make a surprise start.
Forming the strike pairing are Gary Alexander and Lawrie
Dudfield, who were huge summer investments by Hull with
Alexander signing from West Ham United for £200,000 and
Dudfield joining from Leicester City for £250,000. Both
players are familiar to Imps' supporters as Dudfield
spent a month on loan at Lincoln playing three games
while Alexander spent the season before last on loan at
Exeter City. Alexander was forced to miss the Hartlepool
fixture because of a one game ban.

Lincoln City meanwhile have no fresh injury worries
though the squad is no means injury free. John Finnigan
and Justin Walker are both doubtful causing Lincoln
manager Alan Buckley a problem in midfield selection.
During the second half of last week's game at Shrewsbury
Peter Gain and Kingsley Black played on the wings with
Adam Buckley in midfield alongside Ben Sedgmore. It was
not ideal but could well be repeated against Hull.
Defender Paul Morgan will miss the game after incurring a
thigh injury at Shrewsbury so Steve Holmes will start. On
the bench could be Richard Logan who has missed nearly
all this year with a back injury but completed his first
ninety minutes of a reserve game in midweek.
