IAN McINNES
Ian McInnes - a former player of Lincoln City Football ClubBorn: 22nd March 1967 in Hamilton.

Lincoln City career: 43 appearances and 4 goals between 1986-87.

Position: midfield or striker.

Clubs: Rotherham United, Lincoln City, Kilmarnock, Stranraer and Stirling.

Ian McInnes was a typical Lincoln City player: a player who shows great early promise before quickly fading away!

He followed then Lincoln City manager George Kerr from Rotherham in 1986 for what was to become one of the worst seasons in the history of Lincoln City FC, as they were the first club to be automatically relegated from the Football League. He scored twice during his debut against Bury but he was only to score two further goals in his other 42 further appearances.

Most of the existing players left Lincoln City after City's relegation to the Conference. McInnes was amongst the clear out as he was granted a free transfer to Kilmarnock thus enabling his return to Scotland. He would later play for Stranraer and Stirling Albion.

JOHN DUNNE
Born: c1890 in Donnybrook, Ireland.

Lincoln City career: 23 appearances between 1914-18.

Position: left-back.

Clubs: Shelbourne, Lincoln City, Boston Town and Horncastle.

John Dunne was one of the many footballers who had their careers cut short by the First World War. He originally joined Lincoln City in the early part of 1914 and quickly established himself as a regular. He was a highly regarded player in Ireland having won the Irish Cup with Shelbourne and represented the Irish League against the Scottish League.

When the war began, he enlisted for the RAF and played for their service sides while also guest appearing in Lincoln's wartime matches. The war ended in 1918, but Dunne did not play for Lincoln City again. Instead, he signed for Lincolnshire club Boston Town before later transferring to Horncastle Town.

John was related to the ex-Manchester United and Bolton manager Tony Dunne.

STEVE ROBINSON
Born: 17th October 1975 in Nottingham.

Position: midfielder.

Lincoln City career: 11+(1) appearances between July 2005 - May 2006.

Previous clubs: Birmingham City, Kidderminster Harriers, Peterborough United, Swindon Town and Lincoln City.

Current club: Worksop Town.

Steve Robinson was signed in July 2005 to bring experience to Lincoln City's depleted midfield. Alas, the outcome was nothing like the scenario planned.

Robinson began his career as a trainee at Birmingham City in June 1993 and stayed for almost eight years before leaving in February 2001. During his time at Birmingham, he had loan spells at both Kidderminster Harriers and Peterborough United.

He joined Swindon in February 2001 in a £50,000 transfer and quickly established himself both as a first team regular and as a fans' favourite. A broken leg sustained in a match at Blackpool in January 2004 cost him his place in the Swindon first team. He struggled to regain his place but he did make 22 appearances for Swindon during the 2004/05 season.

Notts County tried to sign Robinson during the 2004/05 season but the move collapsed. Later, he undertook a trial at Boston United in an attempt to secure a new club. He was released by Swindon at the end of the 2004/05 season, but not before he made an unexpected emotional appearance during Swindon's final match of the season.

A pre-season injury ruled Robinson out of contention for a first team place at Lincoln until September 2005. He made his belated Imps' debut in Lincoln's 2-0 victory over Stockport County and impressed while doing so. However, he was then bizarrely dropped from the first team and later loaned to Worksop Town.

Lincoln City's supporters were mystified as to why Robinson was playing at Worksop. He returned to Sincil Bank at the same time as then Imps' boss Keith Alexander was placed on leave in January 2006. Alexander returned to his job and selected Robinson for eleven matches before dropping him and then releasing him in May 2006. Within a few weeks, Robinson signed a two-year contract with Worksop Town.
