PAUL MILLER
Paul Miller - formerly of Lincoln City FCBorn: 31st January 1968 in Woking.

Position: midfield or striker.

Lincoln City career: 106+(23) appearances and 12 goals between August 1997 - May 2001.

Previous clubs: Yeovil, Wimbledon, Newport County, Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Lincoln City, King's Lynn and Lincoln United.

Paul Miller was a member of the "Crazy Gang" at Wimbledon where he played as a striker. However, Miller, after several years of competing for a place against the likes of John Fashanu and Alan Cork, chose to leave Wimbledon for Bristol Rovers.

Miller joined Lincoln on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers in July 1997 but injuries restricted his appearances during his first season at Sincil Bank. He started the 1998/99 season in the reserves but was restored to midfield when John Reames took over as manager, During this time, he enjoyed the longest unbroken spell in the first team of his Lincoln career. His reward came in February 1999, when he was given a contract extension until summer 2001.

Miller was considered as one of the most consistent performers of the 1999/2000 season. Unfortunately, another injury plagued season in 2000/01 saw Miller handed a free transfer in May 2001 and he signed for non-league King's Lynn. He later returned to play in the City of Lincoln, but for Lincoln United FC, where he later retired.

STEVE WELSH
Steve Welsh - formerly of Lincoln City Football ClubBorn: 19th April 1968 in Glasgow.

Position: central defence.

Lincoln City career: 47+(2) appearances between August 1999 - July 2001.

Previous clubs: Wimborne, Cambridge Utd, Peterborough, Preston, Partick, Dunfermline, Ayr, Lincoln City and King's Lynn.

Steve Welsh was an experienced central defender who dislodged Grant Brown from The Imps' first team as then manager John Reames sought to reunite Welsh's partnership with Dave Barnett that had originally formed at Dunfermline. However, after Barnett fell out of favour, Welsh gained a good understanding with both Brown and Steve Holmes.

Glasgow born Welsh's early career saw him play for several East Anglia based clubs before he returned to his native Scotland. Ayr agreed to release Welsh on a free transfer in summer 1999, thereby enabling his return to England; Lincoln beat off competition from several other clubs to secure his signature.

Welsh retired from professional football in May 2001 but finished the 2000/01 season in such great form that many people thought that it would not be a surprise to see him continue playing. However in July 2001, he signed part-time for King's Lynn whilst working full time at Sincil Bank as a Football In The Community officer. He has since left Sincil Bank to undertake a similar role at Boston United.

RORY MAY
Position: striker.

Lincoln City career: 2+(5) appearances between July 2003 and May 2004

Previous clubs: Coventry City, Tamworth and Lincoln City

An then 18-year-old Rory May impressed during a 2003/04 pre-season trial period at Lincoln City, which included a goal against Boston Town. This persuaded Lincoln City to offer him a one year contract.

He began his career as a trainee at Coventry City but was released at the end of the 2002/03 season. Shortly before he left Coventry, he was loaned to Tamworth in February 2003 on "work experience".

May had been described as a "striker in the Cyrille Regis or Emile Heskey mould" and appeared to be a good prospect for the future.

Describing May, the then Lincoln manager Keith Alexander said: "Rory is a big man, he is only 18 and I think there's a lot of
potential there."

Unfortunately, that potential was not given sufficient opportunity and after a disappointing loan spell at Halifax Town, he was released in May 2004. He is currently playing minor non-league football in the West Midlands' area.
