MARTIN GARRATT
Born 22nd February 1980 in Middlesborough.

Lincoln City Career: 3 appearances between December 2000 - February 2001.

Position: midfielder.

Previous Clubs: York City, Mansfield, St.Patricks, Lincoln City and Hednesford Town.

Martin Garratt was a highly regarded left winger who joined Lincoln in January 2001 from Irish side St.Patricks. He was just 20 years old, and a great future was predicted for him. He was the subject of a rejected £1,000,000 bid from Sheffield Wednesday whilst he was playing at York City.

However his career stalled soon afterwards and Garratt left York in March 2000. Mansfield Town immediately offered him a short-term contract but again, things did not work out for him and he left after just two months with the Nottinghamshire club.

St.Patricks provided Garratt with a fresh challenge in Ireland, which he gleefully accepted in August 2000. It was whilst he was at St.Patricks that Lincoln City's manager Phil Stant contacted him about making a return to England. St.Patricks were reluctant to release him, and although they never actually stopped him, they did ensure that any club would find it difficult to complete all the registration documents in the hope that this might put clubs off signing him. With new players required and no money available, manager Phil Stant was determined to get him his man.

However in February 2001, Garratt was surprisingly released after being unused at Lincoln, he immediately joined Premiership side Bradford City on trial. That did not work out either and he later signed for Hednesford Town.

SCOTT EUSTACE
Scott Eustace - formerly of Lincoln City Football ClubBorn 13th June 1975 in Leicester.

Lincoln City Career: 0+(1) appearances between July 2000- October 2001.

Position: central defender.

Previous Clubs: Leicester City, Mansfield, Chesterfield, Cambridge United, Lincoln city, Hinckley United and Telford United.

Born in Leicester, Scott Eustace signed for his home club as a trainee before being released after just one appearance.

Mansfield gave him a second chance at league football and during his three years there, he scored 6 goals in 98 appearances. At the end of the 1997/98 season, he became a free agent following the expiry of his contract. A number of clubs came in for him including Lincoln, who gave him a trial at Sincil Bank. Lincoln though were destined to miss out, as he elected to join Chesterfield in August 1998. Things soon turned sour at Saltergate when he was unable to claim a place in the first team, making only one substitute appearance, which was ironically against Leicester City in the League Cup.

He departed Chesterfield in December 1998 by mutual consent, and two months later, Cambridge offered him first a trial, and then monthly contracts until the 1998/99 season ended. Eustace impressed the Cambridge fans, as United secured promotion by finishing as the 1998/99 Division Three runners-up, which helped to convince McFarland to offer him a full time contract.

In summer 2000, Cambridge offered Eustace a one-year deal when he wanted a two-year contract, thus he left United to join Lincoln on a two-year contract.

Injury disrupted his start to the season and he failed to make his debut until late September 2000. However Lincoln City terminated his contract in October 2000 following convictions for two different offences. He later played for Hinckley United and Telford United.

DARREN HORRIGAN
Born: 2nd June 1983 in Middlesbrough.

Previous Club: Birmingham City, Lincoln City, Stamford and Scarborough.

Position: goalkeeper.

Lincoln City career: 0+(1) appearances between October 2001 and March 2004.

Darren Horrigan was a goalkeeper who featured regularly on the substitute's bench for Lincoln City both before and after Paul Pettinger unavailability.

Ex-Imps' manager Alan Buckley showed faith in Horrigan's ability, as he released all the youth team players with the exception of Horrigan. That pointed to him possibly becoming a first choice goalkeeper.

He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Paddy Nash, who played in goal for Southend United between 1947 and 1951. Horrigan signed for Lincoln City from Birmingham City, where he was previously a youth team player.

In March 2002, he made his Football League debut when he replaced Alan Marriott at half-time during the home game against Southend United. However, he failed to make another appearance for City, and he was released in May 2004.

He later played for Ilkeston and Scarborough. He also had a spell on loan at Stamford while at Lincoln City.
