SIMON YEO
Born: 20th October 1973.

Position: striker.

Lincoln City career: 95+(58) appearances and 51 goals between May 2002 - May 2005 and January 2006 - May 2006.

Clubs: Coleraine, Hyde United, Lincoln City, NZ Knights, Peterborough United, Chester City, Bury and Macclesfield Town.

Simon Yeo was a late entrant to the Football League at the age of 28 when Lincoln signed him from non-league Hyde United in May 2002, where he had been a prolific goalscorer.

Lincoln previously considered Yeo in 1999, after he was recommended to them. Three years later, they had to beat off competition from Burton Albion, the UniBond First Division Champions, who in April 2002 had been favourites to secure a deal for Yeo.

Yeo scored 13 League goals during his last season at Hyde but these goals failed to prevent Hyde from being relegated from the UniBond First Division; only Bishop Auckland's substandard ground did that!

A former Army teammate of ex-Imp Dave Cameron; Yeo has also played for Northern Ireland club Coleraine.

Yeo had a mixed first season in league football but finished as a local hero. At the beginning of the 2002/03 season, he had quickly become a fans' favourite with his willingness to shoot and score from distance. Unfortunately, a barren six month goal-less spell followed, but in May 2003, his goalscoring ability returned to secure Lincoln a play-off position. Three more vital goals were scored over two legs against Scunthorpe United to help Lincoln book their place in their first ever national final. Alas, there was no dream ending, as Lincoln lost 5-2 to Bournemouth in the play-off final.

The 2003/04 season saw Lincoln overcome a poor start to reach the play-offs for a second successive season. This time, a two-leg defeat on aggregate to Huddersfield Town meant that it was another season in League Two.

Yeo achieved a personal milestone during the 2004/05 season when he became one of the few Lincoln City players to score over 20 goals in a season. His eventual total was 23 goals, which helped Lincoln to reach the League Two Play-off Final. Off-the-field events contributed to a 2-0 defeat against Southend in the final, to condemn Lincoln to yet another season in League Two.

Many of Lincoln's players, including Yeo, decided that they would leave the club rather than face another depressing season in League Two. Yeo's chosen destination was New Zealand, where he signed for NZ Knights on a three-year contract in June 2005.

Despite 4 goals in 11 appearances for NZ Knights, he failed to settle in New Zealand and opted for a return to England. Lincoln managed to secure his signature despite strong competition, and he rejoined The Imps on January 1st 2006 on a six month contract.

He quickly readjusted to the pace of the English game and scored regularly for Lincoln City. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee ligament injury in March 2006 and missed almost the rest of the season, only returning for Lincoln City's ill-fated play-off matches against Grimsby Town.

Yeo's six month contract expired in June 2006 but he was offered new terms. However, these new terms included a pay reduction that proved unacceptable to Yeo, who then departed Lincoln City much to Imps' fans disappointment. Further disappointment ensued as Yeo opted to join rivals Peterborough United. However, he suffered a major injury at Peterborough and when ft again, he struggled to make an impact at London Road.

Peterborough, in 2007, allowed Yeo to join Chester City in a permanent transfer but again, he struggled to make an impact at his new club. He would later join Bury on loan before returning to Chester City. In May 2008, he was allowed to leave Chester and almost immediately was reunited with his former Imps' boss Keith Alexander at Macclesfield Town.

Yeo, despite featuring in 33 games for Macclesfield, decided that injury had taken its toll and retired from professional football in May 2009.

MARVIN ROBINSON
Born: 11th April 1980 in Crewe.

Position: striker.

Lincoln City career: 26+(14) appearances and 11 goals between July 2005 - May 2006.

Clubs: Derby, Stoke, Exeter, Tranmere, Chesterfield, Notts County, Rushden, Walsall, Stockport County, Lincoln City, Macclesfield Town, Oxford United, Cambridge United, Kettering Town and Redditch United.

The signing in July 2005 of Marvin Robinson brounght an end to former Imps' manager Keith Alexander's long running chase for the player. Alexander first tried to sign Robinson a few seasons ago, but could not agree a deal with the player.

Still only 25 years of age, he began his career as a trainee at Derby County in 1998 until he was released in June 2003 after scoring once in 12 appearances. However, he did spend time on loan at Stoke City, Exeter City and Tranmere Rovers during his Derby days.

Robinson joined Chesterfield in summer 2003, where he stayed for a year. Overall he started 20 games for Chesterfield plus almost an equal number of substitute appearances, during which he scored 7 goals.

A two-month spell at Notts County was ended in November 2004 when he joined Rushden and Diamonds on non-contract terms; he had only made two appearances for County. In his month long stay at Rushden, he scored once in four appearances, which persuaded Walsall to give him a contract.

At Walsall, he scored four goals in 10 appearances, but left to join his fifth club of the 2004/05 season in March. This time, he signed for Stockport County but was unable to help them avoid relegation to League Two, as he only made three appearances.

Robinson signed an initial six-month contract with Lincoln City but later extended it June 2006. He finished the 2005/06 season as Lincoln City FC's leading goal scorer by scoring 11 goals. He was offered new terms in May 2006 but he decided to leave Lincoln City in favour of signing for Macclesfield Town.

Arguably, this proved the biggest mistake of his career as he made just five appearances for Macclesfield before he end up in non-league football with Oxford United in September 2006. Robinson failed to make a lasting impression on Oxford as he struggled to score goals. In September 2007 he was loaned to Cambridge United. However, he suffered a broken leg and lung injuries when he was involved in car crash causing Cambridge to terminate his loan deal.

Although he regained his fitness, Oxford decided to release him in 2008 and he joined Kettering Town. His stay at Kettering was brief as he joined Redditch United in January 2009.

PAUL MAYO
Born: 13th October 1981 in Lincoln.

Position: Left-back or left-winger.

Lincoln City career: 165+(28) and 14 goals between September 1999 - March 2004 and July 2005 - June 2007.

Clubs: Nottingham Forest, Dagenham & Redbridge, Watford, Lincoln City, Notts County, Mansfield Town and Corby Town.

Even though Paul Mayo was born in Lincoln, he is not a product of Lincoln City's youth set-up. Formerly with Nottingham Forest, he decided to leave Forest as the travelling was becoming a problem. Immediately, City made enquires and Mayo became a Lincoln City player in September 1999.

The Skellingthorpe born, left-sided defender was immediately welcomed into Sincil Bank as the then Imps' manager John Reames saw a player with tremendous potential. Mayo, after impressing in the reserve team, made his first team debut during February 2000 in Lincoln's 2-1 defeat at Swansea, and instantly became a regular by displacing Stuart Bimson at leftback. Mayo impressed Reames sufficiently to keep his place in the side until the end of that season. The next Lincoln manager, Phil Stant, also continued with him at left-back leaving the then transfer listed Bimson on the sidelines.

Mayo lost his place in the side when Stant was sacked, as new manager Alan Buckley opted for experience in the midst of Lincoln's relegation fight. Bimson was recalled for the remainder of the 2000/01 season and began the 2001/02 season as first choice.

Despite Mayo's age, he was a competent player and his omission from the side in favour of Adam Buckley caused a few raised eyebrows amongst the Imps' fans. A central defensive injury crisis, just prior to Christmas 2001, saw him drafted into the team in an unfamiliar position.

He joined Dagenham and Redbridge on loan in October 2002 and many thought that his days at Sincil Bank were numbered. In March 2003, he was destined to join Kettering on loan but an injury crisis at Lincoln caused manager Keith Alexander to block the loan move and he recalled Mayo to the Imps' first team. Mayo seized his opportunity and from then until the end of the season, he became a regular, thereby earning a new contract.

He became a first team player for the 2003/04 season and his form earned him a £65,000 move to Watford in March 2004. Overall, he made 125 appearances for Lincoln City, scoring 9 goals before his departure in March 2004.

Mayo became an instant first team player at Watford until injury curtailed his career. During the 2004/05 season, he was in and out of their first team. In July 2005, he made a shock return to Lincoln City, turning down the opportunity to join League One club Swindon Town in the process.

The 2005/06 season started well for Mayo, as he immediately regained his place in the Lincoln first team. However, he sustained a leg injury in January 2006 and was absence for two months. During this time, he lost his place to Jeff Hughes and has yet to re-establish himself in The Imps' first team when the 2005/06 season ended. It was a similar story during the 2006/07 season as late into the season, he lost his place to Paul Green despite impressing on several occasions.

Mayo was offered new terms for the 2007-08 season by Lincoln City but he rejected this offer in favour of a move to Notts County. He immediately became the first choice left-back at Notts County so it was strange when he was loaned to divisional rivals Darlington in January 2008. After his month's loan, he returned to Notts County and resumed his first team place.

Notts County struggled during the 2008-09 season and Mayo became one of those criticised leading to him losing his first team place. In January 2009, Mayo left Notts county by mutual consent and within a few days joined Mansfield Town on a short-term contract. However, this contract was not renewed leading to Mayo leaving Mansfield in May 2009. A few weeks later, Mayo opted to drop further down the non-league pyramid by signing for Corby Town.
