GRAHAM BRESSINGTON
Graham Bressington - a former Lincoln City FC playerBorn: 8th July 1966 in Slough.

Lincoln City career: 183 appearances and 9 goals, between 1987-93.

Position: defender or midfielder.

Clubs: Wycombe, Lincoln City and Southend United.

Graham Bressington was one of the many positive things to emerge from Lincoln City's relegation from the Football League in 1987. It was whilst playing for Wycombe Wanderers against Lincoln City that he was spotted by then Imps' manager Colin Murphy.

A £20,000 transfer to Lincoln City followed in November 1987 and he went on to make eight Conference appearances for The Imps. The 1988/89 season saw Lincoln's return to the Football League and Bressington became a first-team regular and later captain. A popular player, he was the recipient of several awards including the 1990/91 "Player Of The Season" award.

Injuries, including one that kept him out for the majority of the 1991/92 season, restricted him to just 183 appearances in nearly six years. He returned to fitness and form for the 1992/93 season but by then, Lincoln's managerial merry-go-round had spun a few more times and Murphy was now Southend United's manager. Southend paid £25,000 to reunite Bressington with Murphy, assistant-manager Steve Thompson and ex-Imps' striker Jason Lee. Injuries again struck and he missed a large part of his Southend career before leaving for non-League football in 1996.

THOMAS MAIDMENT
Born: 4th November 1905 in Sunderland.

Lincoln City career: 126 appearances and 43 goals, between 1926-1931.

Position: Inside-Right.

Clubs: Sunderland, Lincoln City, Portsmouth, Workington, Cardiff and Blyth.

Thomas Maidment was a keen dribbler who could strike a ball well from distance, hence his goal ratio of one goal every three matches.

He left Lincoln after five years, in a part exchange player deal, to join Portsmouth where he stayed for one season. The following season was spent at Cardiff City before he returned to his native North-East in 1934.

He died in 1971 aged 65.

MATT BLOOMER
Born: 3rd November 1978 in Grimsby.

Position: centre half or striker.

Lincoln City career: 71+(39) appearances plus 4 goals between March to May 2002 and January 2003 to May 2006.

Previous clubs: Grimsby Town, Hull City, Telford United, Lincoln City and Cambridge United.

Matt Bloomer originally joined Lincoln City in March 2002, when he signed a month's loan contract from Hull City, during which he made 5 appearances for The Imps. Speculation surrounded a summer 2002 return to Lincoln City; however, Hull required a transfer fee so Lincoln's severe financial troubles prevented any deal.

Unable to break into the Hull first team, Bloomer joined Telford United on loan in August 2002, where he played alongside other ex-Imps including Grant Brown and Tony Lormor. Upon returning from his loan spell in November 2002, he was still unable to gain first team football and in early January 2003, Hull City released him. With Lincoln still short of cash, Bloomer was offered and signed on non-contract terms thereby beating competition from both Gainsborough Trinity and Telford United.

Bloomer came to Lincoln as a defender but former Imps' manager Keith Alexander often deployed him in his original position of striker.

Despite making 110 appearances for The Imps, his time at Lincoln was mixed, as he failed to hold down a first team place. In March 2006, he joined Conference club Cambridge United on loan. Cambridge were sufficiently impressed by Bloomer and following his release from Lincoln City in May 2006, they opted to sign him permanently. In January 2007, he made the shock return to League football when he re-signed for Grimsby Town - however, he only stayed six months before being released.

Bloomer is a third generation professional footballer, who has followed in his grandfather Jimmy's and his father Bob's footsteps by playing as a professional at Grimsby Town.
