Ben Wright was
signed from Norwegian club IK Start in August
2007. He was hailed by then Imps' boss John
Schofield as a terrific signing. Strange then,
that Schofield was relunctant to play Wright - a
mistake that probably helped lose Schofield his
job.
When Peter Jackson
took over as Imps' manager in October 2007, he
recalled Wright to the starting line-up. Wright
has repaid Jackson's faith with several vital
goals so far this season. He finished the club's
leading goalscorer with 15 strikes to his name
and those goals helped Lincoln City retain their
Football League status.
Wright began his
career at non-league Kettering Town in 1998. It
was not long before Bristol City paid Kettering
£30,000 for Wright. However, during his two
years at Bristol City, Wright made just two
substitute appearances for them. He was also
loaned out to Woking for a short while.
In June 2001,
Wright moved to Norwegian club Viking, where he
played in the UEFA Cup. Wright later transferred
to fellow Norwegian slide IK Start, from which
Lincoln signed him August 2007.
